A Specialist Mind Body Somatic Movement, Somatic Therapy & Comprehensive Pilates Studio for Women & Dancers.

Birmingham, Shropshire & Virtual.

Integrated, Holistic, Embodied.

Movement that works with the whole person.

Welcome - I’m Sarah Pritchard RSME, RSMT, a Mind-Body Specialist.

I am a Comprehensive & Remedial Specialist Pilates Teacher & part of the international Buff Bones® faculty. I am registered as a Somatic Movement Therapist & Somatic Movement Educator. My principal somatic practices come from Franklin Method® & the Leven Institute.

My polyvagal approach to movement has a deep commitment and understanding of teaching the whole person and looking after and supporting your health in a holistic way.

Through my Somatic Pilates, embodied movement practices using Franklin Method®, and evidence-informed approaches, I help people reconnect with their bodies in a way that feels supportive, grounded, and empowering. My work weaves together movement, breath, and awareness - creating space for strength, clarity, and healing in every way.

Whether you're starting out, needing support, a mover, a teacher, or simply curious about feeling better in your body, you're warmly invited to explore this work with me.

Specialist support, for you, every step of the way…

How I can help you

I can help you restore and optimise your movement using my very specialist training in both Pilates and Somatics. As a result the movement you experience is different to what you have experience in a standard movement class.

My focus on the felt sense and mind body connection results in work that is restorative, in terms of regaining function, lessening or eliminating aches and pains, re-patterning and reprogramming faulty movement patterns as well as restoring your mind body connection, producing greater states of calm and ease in every sense.

I have particular expertise working remedially and restoring movement when there has been an issue, with women pre and post natal, bone and joint health, experiencing menopause and beyond and additionally, with dancers using one or a combination of advanced specialist programming I teach.

My primary goal in everything I do, is to help you enhance your wellbeing, health and confidence. I am a trauma informed practioner and work with care and sensitivity.

My own movement story travelled the pathway of beginner, to specialist, only to find myself having to re-learn everything from very little, to becoming a Pilates and Somatic specialist. I know what it feels like physically, mentally and emotionally to take that journey. I appreciate how important it is to work with the right teacher, who has patience, positivity and is not judgemental.

I work with people with no movement experience, all the way through to specialist professional movers with exceptional talents and skills. My clients are curious, intelligent people, often experts in their own field. What they all have in common is commitment to themselves and a belief they can change.

Everyone has to start somewhere, and something they want to improve. Everyone has untapped potential that can be found.

So leave your assumptions about your body to one side and start a new relationship with it…

In wellness,

Sarah

How my clients feel working with me in Somatic Pilates and Buff Bones®…

“I worked for many years as a psychotherapist and would have benefited much earlier in my career from understanding my body from the perspective Sarah has given me in my one to one sessions. With her guidance and help she has really enabled me to identify/ explore particular issues through paying attention to my body and movement. The sessions with Sarah have been invaluable and made a huge difference to my emotional and physical well being. Most of all her classes are really enjoyable. She has sorted out my ongoing back and shoulder problems and given me the skills to develop my own practice at home.”

— J.W. Retired Psychotherapist

“I cannot recommend Sarah enough.

Having contacted her for a beginner’s Pilates session she quickly identified a knee issue that had been causing me problems for years. She worked through several movements with me over a number of sessions to try to correct that fault and I am pleased to say that I now have more movement in my leg than I have had for ages.

I have been looked at by several physios over the years (at substantial personal cost and temporary success) - but she has absolutely nailed it and I couldn’t be happier.”

— K.H, TV and Film Editor

“I have been working with Sarah since being diagnosed with osteoporosis. Sarah has been able to ease my associated fear of movement, especially falling. Over time Sarah has been extremely helpful in increasing my overall strength and fitness in several areas where the impact of osteoporosis may be most severe in the future.  This includes identifying the causes of my back pain and teaching me suitable exercise programmes based on Buff Bones to reduce it. Sarah is an excellent and kind teacher and her attention to detail continues to be of great benefit in my day to day life and gives me both motivation and hope for the future”.

— J.W. Artist

“Working with Sarah has been my first experience of Pilates, it has allowed me to understand that mindfulness is not just based on physical movements, but also on the mind-body connection. Sarah’s approach is incredibly holistic, she helps me tune into my body’s signals and identifies where subtle tension affects larger movements in my body. Her focus on mindfulness and breathwork has made me more aware of my body and its alignment, and her calmness is contagious! I always leave sessions feeling aligned and with a new sense of calm.

— A.B. Consultant

“After I injured my back, I was often in discomfort, and my body felt weaker and quite limited in its mobility. There was a time where I was unable to sit down for more than 30 minutes at a time without feeling uncomfortable. Working with Sarah has been life-changing as it has not only allowed me to properly and safely consolidate the advice provided by my physiotherapist in order to improve the condition of my back but, with attention to detail and a carefully curated Pilates programme—designed to suit me and my lifestyle—Sarah has helped me to build strength in all areas of my body, particularly my back, glutes and legs. As a person who was previously glued to my laptop, living a fairly sedentary life, Pilates with Sarah opened up the door to movement which has allowed me to become more active and improve my overall health”.

— R.K. Executive

“Thank you for all your support working through the issues resulting from my fracture, I really appreciate your attentiveness and expertise. You’re a brilliant and gifted teacher”.

Shrewsbury, Shropshire:

“Thank you for an excellent retreat day on Sunday…I came away feeling positive and eager to learn more about Somatic Movement. The venue was great and all accompanied by conviviality and generous hospitality”. JW Summer 2025 Retreat.

“Personally, I valued the space and the small group which created a very personal experience with a clear connection to the other participants, whose stories were very powerful. I loved the softness of the approach and the connection to the beautiful and powerful act of breathing and how breath connects to all systems of the body (the soma) including physical, emotional and spiritual. Breath is apparently such a simple act and yet such a beautiful act of self care and healing which can easily be incorporated into daily life and practice.” A.G. Medical & Movement Professional Summer 2025 Retreat

Absolutely loved today, the venue and your teaching style. I feel very relaxed.  Would love to do some more. K.M Seasonal Somatic Retreat November 2024

Somatic Movement Education

Somatic movement and the practice of embodiment, or realising and feeling aspects of our bodies connects us to the whole of ourselves. Somatic movement is liberating, powerful and transformative not just of movement but of your life in a holistic way.

Somatic work is holistic, and is never about hurt, discomfort or pushing your body beyond what it was designed to do. It keeps you, the individual, at the centre.

It is a very different way of moving, thinking and feeling. Away from any worry of judgement, pressure or criticism. When both ourselves and our bodies are supported so much more is possible.

How my somatic movement and dancer clients feel…

With thanks again for your wonderful sessions!”

— R.D. Choreographer and Professional Dancer

“Sarah is a wonderful teacher. Endlessly knowledgeable by conveys complex ideas in a straightforward way. My mind is calm and my body can do things I never thought possible... get in touch if you want to move beautifully but without the strain”

—C.W. Entrepreneur and Social Dancer, The Somatic Studio

“If you’re hypermobile and / or a dancer keeping your body healthy through movement is crucial. But, understanding movement is essential... Sarah’s Franklin Method® classes are mind blowing and I can’t recommend them enough”

— L.R. Nutritionist with Specialist Focus on Hypermobility and Dancer Health, former dancer.

My body feels more integrated, less tense, freer and alive. I’m learning about how much tension and gripping I used to do… movement doesn’t have to be like that as it can just feel so easy”

-Social Dancer, Franklin Method® Classes

“Sarah’s enthusiasm and passion for sharing her knowledge of anatomy, coupled with her deep experiential understanding of the subtle rhythms of the body result in engaging classes; while her creativity in explaining these ideas and capacity to bring them into an embodied experience make the learning experientially-informed.
I’m so impressed by her own capacity for embodiment and her passion for sharing this with others, in which gentle attention and curiosity results in movement that’s joyful and pleasurable. By the end of her sessions I feel relaxed and delighted by the potential of my body as a place of rejuvenation and power...
Sarah’s evening Franklin sessions are an invaluable part of my week. Thank you, Sarah!”
